As funny as it may sound, this is my first entry after years of dreaming of setting up a blog. Procrastination has been my worst enemy since schooldays. Come to think of it, is it a habit cultivated through contacts or a hereditary trait, streaming through my blood? Nevertheless, I hope I can keep this activity going, for the sake of my memory and that of my family's.
Just as I was typing, I wondered, has a blog ever been serialised, or be made into a movie, a book or documented in other media forms? Akin to that Jewish gal, Anne Frank, back during WW2, her diary documented life during the war.
Today, 28th of May 2008, I read with real interest on the court proceedings of the Lees v the Chees (LKY & LHL versus CSJ & CSC). Very interesting, as usual PM and MM articulated their responses to the cross-examinations by CSJ, CSC and M Ravi. And as usual, many issues beyond what were suppose to be 'trashed' out were dished out by CSJ. To a commoner like me, the question raised is "What is CSJ doing?" and ultimately "Why?". He is a doctor, a very well-educated individual who has decided to take the path many do not wish to or do not care/dare to. But what about his family? Does he think of the family when he is doing all these? Is he trying to leave behind a legacy? Or a blueprint for future CSJs? God knows, wish him all the best. I love my Singapura.
Assisted Man to bring in the tv to AMK, a tv sorely missed by my dad-in-law, "The Bird Man". Like he said, he felt like one of his leg has been amputated not having a tv at home. My question, "you felt like your leg been 'potong', yet everyday without fail, you will bring your birds out to your 'lepak' corner." He is one of the 'slackest' man I have ever known in my entire life (somehow the fingers type faster when I come to this topic).
Just imagine this, he wakes up in the morning, freshens up and conducts his prayers. After a short rest watching tv, he leaves home with birds-in-cages @ 8am. Comes back around 12pm, plonked onto sofa. Prayers @ 1pm plus, then off to clean the cages and feed the birds. 3pm, plonked onto sofa, watches tv. 4pm plus prayers, then plonked onto sofa, watches tv then dozes off. Prayers at 7pm plus and 8pm plus, then plonked onto sofa, watches tv till the tv set watches him. How beautiful life can be for a retiree. Groceries, electricity bills, etc all taken care off. Food prepared, clothes ironed, what more can a man ask. Typical MCP, and he asked for a tv as though we work in Courts, Best Denki or Harvey Norman, cash and carry mode.
Nevertheless, he is my dad-in-law. At the other end of the scale, he is a nice guy, willing to offer advice and gives encouragement, though can be critical at times.
He is a fair-minded person. Guess no one is perfect. Got to take a break now. Will come back for more postings, I still have my family to talk about, my schooldays, my hobby, my Liverpool, my stint in East Timor, my trip to London, etc.....see ya.
